Gabriel Iglesias
Gabriel Iglesias, aka Fluffy, is one of the most successful stand-up comedians in the world and one of the most watched and followed on YouTube and social media. His appeal is universal, honing in on observations about life, race, and growing up Hispanic in America. So beloved is he, if you’ve ever attended one of his shows, you’ll often hear his audience reciting their favorite parts verbatim.
He’s sold out shows from Madison Square Garden to The Sydney Opera House and just released his 7th stand-up show, One Show Fits All, on Netflix after the immensely popular, I’m Sorry For What I Said When I Was Hungry. And we hear there might be another to look forward to later this year.
In addition to standup, Gabriel has flourished in film and television, appearing in Magic Mike and its sequel, Magic Mike XXL, The Fluffy Movie, popular sitcoms like Cristela and Modern Family, and has used his incredible vocal talents for a wide range of characters in films such as Coco (Best Animated Feature), Show Dogs, Ferdinand, and Ugly Dolls.
Currently, Gabriel is the Executive Producer and star of the upcoming Netflix comedy series, Mr. Iglesias, where he plays a good-natured public high school teacher encouraging his students to reach their full potential. The series releases to Netflix on Friday, June 21.
Most importantly, he is an animal enthusiast like us, traveling the globe with his two best friends, Risa and Vinnie (pictured above). And we were thrilled he took a few minutes to tell us a little more about his favorite pals and why dogs are so funny and full of love.
Quick Bites
Did you have a special pet growing up?
Please tell us about your four-legged family.
My sister gave me a chihuahua when I was a little boy, his name was Dino. That’s how my love for animals began.
Please tell us about your four-legged family.
They’re two super spoiled chihuahuas. Risa runs the show since she’s my little princess and knows she doesn’t have to work hard for my attention. Vinnie is the sweetest dog and follows me everywhere. Risa is Spanish for laughter and that is how she got her name.
Have you ever had a pet named or been tempted to name one Fluffy?
Never, that’s my name and I don’t want it to get confusing.
What do you feed them and what are their favorite activities?

Gabriel Iglesias stars in the Netflix original series, Mr. Iglesias
They’re on a combination of wet food and kibble and they love Duck or Chicken jerky snacks. I truly believe I am their favorite toy!

How do they make you laugh? Do you include them in your comedy?
Risa and Vinnie are true siblings and definitely have a love/hate relationship. The funniest thing is watching 3lb Risa going off on her 12lb brother. They’re all over my current tour, they appear in my tour art and stage design. They also have a couple of dedicated jokes about them and how attached we all are and overall how they are road dogs in all senses.
Favorite part about being a pet owner? Most challenging part?
My favorite part is receiving their unconditional love on a daily basis. They’re so loyal and appreciative that it makes it hard to leave them alone. So that’s the hardest part leaving them behind and having to deal with sad puppy eyes.
Lastly, what pet organizations/charities are important to you and why?
It’s hard to just pick one, I truly believe any organization that dedicates themselves to pets is worthy of respect and admiration. There’s nothing more important than helping those kind pets that can’t help themselves.
